The Challenge
Screw air compressors are positive-displacement air compressors widely used in the industrial sector. Characterized by high efficiency, stability, low maintenance requirements, and continuous air supply, they have become one of the most mainstream compressed air equipment in modern factories.
Traditional fixed-speed (constant-frequency) air compressors can only operate at "full speed" or be "shut down". When the air demand decreases, they will enter no-load operation or experience frequent start-stop cycles, resulting in significant energy waste.
In contrast, frequency inverters control the motor speed by changing the power supply frequency, achieving the following benefits:
✅ On-demand air supply: The air output matches the actual demand.
✅ Constant-pressure air supply: Maintains stable system pressure.
✅ Energy conservation and consumption reduction: Eliminates no-load operation and frequent start-stop cycles.
The Solution
Inverter achieves stepless speed regulation of the motor by adjusting the frequency and voltage of the motor's input power supply. This in turn controls the rotational speed of the screw airend, ultimately realizing the goals of on-demand air supply, constant-pressure operation, and high-efficiency energy conservation.
In traditional fixed-speed (constant-frequency) screw compressors:
The motor can only operate at "full speed" or be "shut down".
When the air demand decreases, the compressor will enter an "idle load" state (continuing to consume electricity but not producing compressed air) or experience frequent start-stop cycles, leading to energy waste and mechanical impact.
In contrast, variable-frequency screw compressors:
Realize the principle of "producing as much air as needed".
Feature small pressure fluctuations, ensuring a more stable system.
Achieve an energy-saving rate of 20% to 50%, making them particularly suitable for scenarios with large fluctuations in air demand.
